Finding Christ in Prison

“It took coming to prison for God to get my attention.”  To a man, this is the story we hear over and over again from those who have met Christ in prison. Twice a month I attend Kairos Reunions at the prison in Marion and the one in Spruce Pine. It was just last week an inmate in tears told me how glad he was that a Kairos Team came to his prison in Eastern North Carolina a dozen years ago and introduced him and his fellow inmates to Christ. “I became a Christian that weekend and I have been serving the Lord ever since. If it’s Gods will for me to ever leave this place I will serve Him with all my heart for the rest of my days.”

It is for men like these that I am constrained to go back again and again on dark and cold nights to worship with some of the most committed Christians I have ever known. As a member of Central I am pleased to be a part of the mission teams who visit those in prison representing our Lord and Savior and the members of Central Church. To God be the Glory!
