Pastor of Congregational Care (828) 989-9660

Hello! I am Amy Proctor Leachman! I am an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church and the minister of congregational care at CUMC. I am married to Jack Leachman and have a stepson, Matt, and two dogs, Walker and Koebbe.

I am called to be a healing reminder of God’s love, and journey with others towards mental, physical, and spiritual wholeness. I am compassionate, empathetic, and non-judging, and I work towards the acceptance of others. I strive to create a safe place for others to be themselves and consider it an honor to journey with them. I am passionate about leading people into a deep and authentic relationship with God, themselves, and those around them.

I graduated from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University with my Masters of Divinity and Certificate in Pastoral Care in May of 2011. While at Perkins I completed five units of Clinical Pastoral Education. I was a Chaplain CPE Intern at Children's Medical Center and Chaplain CPE Resident at Baylor Medical Center.

After graduation from Perkins, I moved to Denver to pursue a Masters in Counseling Psychology at the University of Denver. I graduated from DU in June of 2013. During my internship at DU, I worked at Trinity UMC and Redemption Fellowship as a Pastoral Care Associate and provided counseling and pastoral care to members of the congregation.

After graduating from the University of Denver I moved to Asheville, NC.  I have volunteered at the Haywood Street Congregation, providing pastoral care and counseling, and I am working towards becoming a licensed professional counselor in the state of NC. I also served as the house steward of the Haw Creek Intentional Community in Asheville.
