Local Missions
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22: 37-39
Central United Methodist Church reaches out with Christian love and compassion to meet human needs in Buncombe County and surrounding areas. To get involved in Central Church’s many local mission opportunities, contact Jessica Tripp at jtripp@centralumc.org or 828.253.3318 ext. 306.

Each year, Central Church joins with other United Methodist Churches in the Asheville/Buncombe County area to construct a new home as part of Habitat for Humanity’s long-term commitment.
Local Partnerships
Central Church contributes financial support and volunteer assistance regularly for many local agencies including Caring for Children, Pisgah Legal Services, Literacy Council, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, Western Carolina Rescue Mission, Eliada Home and Affordable Housing Coalition.
Central United Methodist Church Prison Ministry
Central UMC became involved in Prison Ministry in 1996 when Pastor Michael Brown and Central volunteer Dan Cabaniss were instrumental in starting Disciple I classes for the inmates at Buncombe Correctional Center.
The Disciple I Bible Study class taught each week by a dedicated group of Central members is the longest-running single Christian program at BCC.
In addition to teaching the Disciple Bible Study, five Central members are currently actively involved in the Buncombe Correctional Center-Community Resource Council (BCC-CRC). Pastor Rob Blackburn is on the Advisory Council of the CRC. To learn more about the CRC and the efforts of our volunteers, visit their website www.bcc-crc.org.
You are invited to participate in our prison ministry. Please contact Jessica Tripp, jtripp@centralumc.org or 828.253.3318 ext. 306 if you are interested in becoming involved with this ministry.

Join Us at the Downtown Welcome Table
The Downtown Welcome Table is an outreach ministry at the Haywood Street campus of Central UMC. The Table will
serve the downtown community each Wednesday from 11:45 to 1:15.
To volunteer, call or e-mail Shelly Arnold (299-8528, shellyarnold99@gmail.com), Rev. Brian Combs
(246-4250, rev.briancombs@gmail.com), or Amy Gaston (253-5188, amy@jggaston.com).
Please join us each Wednesday to eat and/or volunteer. Reverend Brian writes,
